Psychoeducation & Distress Guidance
Psychoeducation & Distress Guidance is for the part of you that quietly wonders, "What is wrong with me? Why do I react like this?" In these sessions, I do not just offer comfort; I also share clear, trauma-informed information about what is happening in your brain and body, so your symptoms start to make sense instead of feeling like personal failures. Through Mental Health Education, I walk you through how anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress affect your thoughts, emotions, sleep, relationships, and physical health. I translate clinical concepts into everyday language and connect them directly to what you are experiencing. Understanding the "why" often softens shame and creates room for self-compassion.
Distress Management Education focuses on what to do in the moment when emotions feel out of control. Together, we practice specific calming techniques-grounding skills, breathing patterns, sensory strategies, and self-talk-that can help you move from a 10 out of 10 intensity down to something more manageable. I encourage you to test these tools between sessions, then refine them so they truly fit you.
Because no one heals in isolation, Emotional Support Identification is a key part of this work. I help you map out who in your life feels safe enough to turn to, where the gaps are, and how to widen your circle of support if needed. For some, this includes family or friends; for others, it might mean spiritual communities, support groups, or crisis resources.
My goal in these sessions is to leave you feeling more informed, less alone, and better equipped to navigate your inner world, with a growing sense that your reactions are understandable responses to what you have lived through-not evidence that you are broken.
